This ETQ generator starts easily in first to second pull and it does run quiet and smooth.  It’s definitely not some cheap, whining sounding piece of junk like some campers may use. Any Complaints?

Some unhappy customers noted that the position of the oil hole is a little awkward.Not a problem – simply grab a funnel that has a long and flexible neck. This should come handy when filling the ETQ TG32P12 portable generator with oil.

Another complaint was that the pull starter cord is recessed behind the support mounts so that it cannot be pulled directly out from its housing but rather at a slight angle. Over time this may result in extra wear on the cord and cause it to break sooner than it would otherwise. I suppose this is just a concern on the part of the customer as none have reported broken cords (even for those who have used the generator for 2 or more years).

A final complaint is that it doesn’t have an hourly meter included with this generator. However, one can be cheaply purchased online here at Amazon.

The portable generator we will be reviewing, the APG3014 is very much aimed at the budget end of the market. It must be one of the cheapest portable generators I’ve seen – but don’t let the price fool you. Even though it is at the lower end of the market and doesn’t have a lot of the features that generators retailing at $400-$1000 have, it is still a competent little portable generator.

This small generator is perfect to keep on hand just in case you lose electricity for a short period of time. If you live in an area known for tornadoes, ice storms, and other weather emergencies, then you will need either multiple small portable generators like this one or one big solid one that has at least 4000 watts of power. This because this little generator only has two 120-volt receptacles for you to plug into. This ensures you can keep your food from spoiling and keep your family fed until your electricity is restored. This generator is mainly suited for light recreational use, and not so much of being an emergency portable generator – you may want to consider one of the larger generators if you intend it for emergency power.

It is rated at 1400 Watts continuous power with a maximum load of 2000 Watts, so 1400 Watts hundred is the figure to use for continuous use. This is really one of smallest and cheapest generators that will still run just about any 120V item. There is more than enough power to handle starting a motor such as a freezer during a power outage.

4 Stroke Engine Means More Convenience

Many small generators being sold are only 2 stroke, this means you have to premix gas and oil in a separate container. Not the APG3014, it comes with a 4 stroke engine so you won’t have to worry about having to premix your fuel. The need to premix gas and have a specific can for your generator is certainly a hassle that is avoided, and being 4 stroke the APG3014 will last longer then a 2 stroke. For camping or construction work you can easily take it right out to where you need it.

Another benefit is that if you are using this for camping, or in home emergency use, this machine is also very quiet, producing just 68 db of noise. So, I did some research and found out that there are actually small portable inverter generators that are really useful when on camping trips to power small appliances like small refrigerators and power tools as well as charge up gadgets like your ipods. Considering its small size, this gas powered generator certainly packs a punch. It is roughly the size of a small suitcase and when it is running, it certainly makes some noise but it is a lot quieter than many other models out there. The quietness lends itself to being used outside the home or on a campsite for example. The generator is fairly hefty but convenient to carry with built-in handle, stabilized footings so it certainly fits the description ‘portable’

The Honeywell HW2000i portable inverter generator is great for outdoor recreational use as it is too for casual home use to power small devices like hand phone chargers, electric units, computer systems and other small appliances. Its inverter technology produces consistent electricity recommended for running sensitive electronics like computers. Understanding about this technology gave me a piece of mind knowing I’m not ruining my gadgets in the process. In economy mode, the engine speed is automatically adjusted according to the electrical load, minimizing noise and fuel consumption. This fuel efficiency capability is important for any portable generator. All these features more than justifies its affordable cost.

A Closer Look At The Honeywell HW2000i

First off, let’s have a better look at the unit itself. I would say that it’s roughly the size of a small suitcase. Now that’s a little surprising since I was expecting it to be smaller – ’round about the size of a Honda portable generator. Along with that, this unit is a little louder than Honda (BUT not to the point that it’s annoying), though I must say that it’s quieter than the old Coleman Powermate generator that I had.

It also comes with a tough orange and red plastic casing that needs a screwdriver to open for you to get hold of the different controls. No worries – the screwdriver is included in the package.

All in all, thumbs up to Honeywell HW2000i portable inverter generator when it comes to the ‘build and looks’ department. It’s hefty BUT very convenient to take along with you thanks to the built in handle, stabilized footings, and more.

Starting It Up And Other Features

Pulls start – it’s little disappointing since it’s NOT instant, BUT it did fire up quickly by the second pull. The Honeywell HW2000i comes with 2 regular outlets as well as a 12 volt outlet with easy access fuse locations. You will also find the level indicators and efficiency settings placed in convenient spots all over the Honeywell HW2000i portable generator.

Just a reminder though – the fuel pours into top and it could easily splash to the unit’s control panel if you are a little sloppy or clumsy. HOWEVER, I think the fuel opening is large enough to make room for errors and you can easily solve this minor problem by using a funnel.

CARB Compliant

The Honeywell HW2000i portable power supply is CARB compliant. It’s fairly quiet when you switch to efficiency setting and is more than enough to run even the more delicate electronics. While I haven’t tried using it for my refrigerator, stove, etc. since we have different arrangements when camping and holding an outdoor party, I don’t see any reason why the Honeywell HW2000i can’t handle it.

As with any product you can come across a mixture of good and bad reviews. In the case of the Honeywell HW2000i Portable Generator the reviews are nearly all favorable. The ones that aren’t are invariably due to people using the generator for unsuitable loads or just not knowing how to operate it.
